The Value of Time

One of the biggest challenges I have noticed that have come up for me as a mom, is the concept of time.

Time seems to be flying by so quickly, all the while… the minutes and hours go by so slow, but the days are quick, weeks and months seem to be memories in my mind, that I try to recall through my old Instagram posts or Facebook timeline.

Time, it is the most valuable asset of life. Although time, is manmade… did you know that?
The concept of time is made up by humankind, to help organize our tasks, day to day, to help construct meaning in our days, weeks and months. Perhaps to even control us… But time is actually not linear, in fact it is all encompassing, herein.

Ha, doesn’t that sound like a load of crap?

I think so, even though time was made up by us… the concept is still very important, we make money by how many hours we work, what our hourly wage is, we get deducted hours if we don’t clock in for work. Even though humankind created the concept of time, we live by it and operate within.

In terms of motherhood, it seems like my time with my children is fleeting.

My daughter starts kindergarten in two weeks and I all I can think about it is, I need more time with her before she starts school.
I need to embrace who she is now, before she starts school. I don’t understand why I have the need for this right now, but I do.

I keep hearing from veteran moms that time goes by faster once they start school… perhaps that is what has caused me to feel a way about her starting school.

Ultimately, it makes me realize that my relationship with Time, is all sorts of screwed up. There was a time where money seemed fleeting for me, now it is the concept of Time.

Bridging the gap of Time, so that I can have more of it, instead of feeling like Time is hard to come by now a days, is my goal… below are some tips I have found that help me appreciate the time that I do have for myself and for my family.

Be Grateful for the Time You Have.

Gratitude is the key component that get more of what you feel grateful for.

This is literally the ingredient to get what you want… be happy with what you already have, bask in the feeling of appreciation and life, the universe will give you more of things to be appreciative of.

Use Your Time Wisely.

I felt like this was needed, since we always focus on how little time we have, when we actually have the same 24 hours as any other person whom can accomplish a lot.

Procrastination is the death of goals, or achieving anything of greatness. Let’s use our time wisely and stop procrastinating. How do you do that, you ask?

Well it is understanding the value of what you are looking to accomplish, do you think it matters to spend more time with your children, read them a book, take them to the park, or perhaps to accomplish your health goals, or pursue your passions…

Do you see the value in this or do you see the value of watching tv or going through your social media timeline?

Do you see the value in this or do you see the value of watching tv or going through your social media timeline?

Most people don’t even realize that they are doing this, well guess what… when you know better, you do better.

Placing the value on what is most important to you is the key to eliminate procrastination.

Create a Meaningful To Do List.

Don’t create a To Do list that just entails your day to day task, yes do those… but create a meaningful to do list. One that creates your connection with your loved one, a list that entails connection with yourself.

Conclusion

Perhaps a task that helps you pursue a passion. Whatever it may be, create a weekly to do list that makes your soul sing.

These are ways that perhaps can encourage you to look at Time a little differently. In a more appreciative and grateful way.

The more we leverage time to benefit us, the better our lives become, the more we can accomplish and the more we can truly find happiness.
Love, laugh, learn,
